Mr. Valkenburgh earned his J.D. in 1982 from the Northeastern University School of Law; his B.A. in 1977 from The Evergreen State College. Mr. Valkenburgh served as the founding director and executive director of the ACLU of Idaho for nearly 20 years. He is a passionate advocate for the protection of civil rights and has successfully represented victims of police abuse, as well as victims of commercial negligence and family members in need of guardianship and/or conservatorship. Mr. Van Valkenburgh also has a special interest in elections law, working with organizations such as the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe.
